Representative Rush Holt Explores the Wendy Schmidt Oil Cleanup X CHALLENGE
By on August 18, 2011
Congressman Holt paid the Wendy Schmidt Oil Cleanup X CHALLENGE a huge compliment today by actively engaging with our X PRIZE staff, judges and current team on the ground - Elastec. As Holt toured the oil laden tank, poised and ready for testing, he enthusiastically inquired about the type of oil used, the manner in which the tests are run, the way the weather affected the testing (as it was ominously looking like rain) and how the Competition was progressing. A short walk from the tank through the workshop, Holt was escorted to the test lab where he was shown the inner workings of the interfacial tension device (yes, I said interfacial tension device) and spoke at length with our engineers and lab technicians about how samples were obtained. As actual results are top secret (no, we didn?t share them), Representative Holt was able to observe how a ?mock? sample was tested.
As an active Member of Congress and a strong voice for his constituents, Rep. Holt serves on the Committee on Natural Resources where he serves as the Ranking Member on the Subcommittee on Energy and Mineral Resources helping to develop a long-term strategy to decrease our nation's dependence on fossil fuels and protect our environment for future generations.
Thank you Representative Holt, for taking time out of your busy schedule to visit. It is encouraging to witness your commitment to the environment directly.
