Amir Razmjou

Amir Razmjou is a seasoned academic and industry expert with over 20 years of experience in desalination, water treatment, membrane technology, and mineral processing. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of New South Wales (UNSW) in Sydney, Australia, in 2012. Dr. Razmjou serves as a Board Director of the Membrane Society of Australasia (MSA) and is the Founder of the Mineral Recovery Research Centre (MRRC) at Edith Cowan University (ECU), Western Australia. His contributions to the mining and resource extraction industries, particularly in lithium processing, have been significant. He has published more than 200 peer-reviewed articles and secured research funding in excess of AUD 9.2 million. His numerous accolades include being named the 2024 WA FHRI Fund Innovation Fellow, the recipient of the 2023 MSA Industry Innovation Award, and the 2021 UTS Chancellor Research Fellow. Dr. Razmjou has supervised over 40 master’s and Ph.D. candidates and holds editorial positions for journals such as Desalination, Desalination and Water Treatment (DWT), and Journal of Water Process Engineering (JWPE). At MRRC, he established a Direct Lithium Extraction (DLE) line, incorporating a range of processes, including membranes, ion exchange, and adsorption at both laboratory and pilot scales. His research also focuses on developing and implementing advanced technologies for DLE pretreatment and post-treatment, aiming to enhance the Li/TDS ratio and purify lithium to battery-grade quality.
