Dr. Luxton’s research and writing are focused in the areas of technology-based psychological treatments, telehealth, and emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence applications in mental health care. Much of his work has focused on telemental health with an emphasis on clinical best-practices. He has also conducted extensive research in the areas of military psychological health and suicide risk and prevention. He is Principal Investigator or Co-Investigator on several federally funded clinical trials. He also provides subject matter expertise and consultation in the areas of telehealth and technology in mental health. He is a licensed Clinical Psychologist in Washington State. He is am currently Chief Science and Strategic Officer at TQIntelligence. Inc. in Atlanta, GA and Chief Science Officer at NowMattersNow.org in Seattle. He is also an affiliate Associate Professor at the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle. He previously served as a Research Health Scientist at the Naval Health Research Center in San Diego, CA where he served as Principal Investigator of the Department of Defense's Millennium Cohort Study - the largest prospective health study in U.S. Military history. Before he moved to San Diego, he served as a Research Psychologist and Program Manager at the DoD's National Center for Telehealth & Technology (T2) in Tacoma WA. In 2015, he formed Luxton Labs LLC.
