Sean serves as a technical lead for the IBM Watson AI XPRIZE and member of technical staff at Syntiant. His obsession is the development of tools and techniques for safe and interpretable deployment of intelligent systems, including for the problems of wildfire suppression policy and solar phenomena forecasting.

Sean defended a PhD in Machine learning at Oregon State University in 2017 and currently serves on two Partnership on AI working groups dedicated to avoiding AI safety incidents and ethical failures. At Syntiant, Sean develops neural network models to run on analog processors at ultra low power consumption.
