Countdown to the Awards Ceremony: Team OilShaver
?Suspense can only build for so long, then it subsides, and builds again," said Ingvar Huse, OilShaver team leader.
"We have been through a few such oscillations already, but have now arrived at a plateau of realism where we probably will remain until the adrenalin saturated final moments of the 11th of October. I do not look forward to that, but would not miss it for the world!?
As OilShaver patiently awaits their team?s fate, they repeat the same questions in their minds as every other competing team: Will they or won?t they win the Wendy Schmidt Oil Cleanup X CHALLENGE? Will they have reached the goals of the Competition? Have they reached their own team goals set before they even set foot in New Jersey? Will they use what they have learned to continue within the industry, hoping to find improved, faster ways of recovering oil from the water?s surface? These are all questions left unanswered until after October 11th when the world will discover who has won this $1M X CHALLENGE.
As they wait, have they dreamed of the money or the notoriety that comes with a potential win or have they looked at the greater goal of the Competition?
?Why do we compete? It is ingrained in us by evolution. So much for our paper thin surface of what we tend to term culture, civilization or humanity. Trust the Animal to come through as soon as some kind of competition is at hand. So let's prepare for the eleventh and muster our best human properties, and let us remember the old song: "Row, row, row your boat gently down the stream. Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily, life is but a dream".
Yes, life is but a dream and we thank you Oilshaver for helping to create a Competition filled with substance and surrounded by those who selflessly dream themselves of creating a better way to clean up oil spills.
Congratulations on your completion of the Competition ? we wish you the best of luck as the clock winds down and we watch and wait in anticipation.
